My biggest accomplishment of 2012? Surviving the non-existent apocalypse- yep that's just how drab last year has been. Not just drab, but really bad at times. 2012 has seen the people I most care about go through the most horrific struggles. It has seen me getting nothing-to-cheer-about grades. Watching things fall apart. Yup, 2012 was a nightmare. I'm a bit apprehensive about this year. Actually- I'm VERY apprehensive. Its just that nasty feeling where you're not sure of what to expect. On a lighter note, I'm here to blog about resolutions- just because they're fun to make and so very hard to stick to. As far as I know, I have never accomplished one resolution, out of all the resolutions I have made. So this year, I shall go easy and start simple.
Most of my resolutions fail terribly because they involve too much ambitiousness and that in itself is the starting point for failure. So I'm leaving things related to academics/EXERCISING and eating habits out because they're more personal/ more likely to fail.
- Be kind. This year, I shall resolve to be compassionate. To put myself in other's shoes and to be able to empathize with them. And definitely not judge. Its a human thing to judge, a very horrible human thing and one of my biggest issues is judging people for what they have done in the past. I need to keep in mind that sometimes, even in the rarest of cases-people do change.
- Move on. I tend to let things which have already happened affect me greatly. And that has to stop.
- Stop cussing, for crying out loud! This used to be a major problem of mine which I managed to subdue for about more than half of 2012 until things started getting to me and for some reason, my cussing bug is back. Its offensive and I need to quit. For the record, I did keep my vow on not tweeting expletives for a whole year...until i broke the vow a few weeks ago. Yay me.
- Be nicer to my family members. I tend to flare up quite easily around them given that I'm the most comfortable around my family. And my pent up feelings tend to unleash themselves at them, making them my punching bag. So they end up seeing the ugly side of me. I think they're quite convinced that's the only side of me there is. Sorry family u.u
- Read more. If I ever manage to squeeze in time to read, that is. But I have a set list of books I really really want to read.(The Bell Jar-Sylvia Path, Catcher In The Rye-J.A Salinger, How To Be An Explorer Of The World-Keri Smith,Paper Towns-John Green,The Virgin Suicides -Jeffrey Eugenides)
- Watch 'The Art Of Getting By' at least once.
- Be more thrifty. My money tends to eat itself up in my coin bank.
- Watch 'The Art Of Getting By' at least once.
- Be more positive. This one's particularly tricky. I am so stubbornly pessimistic about everything-2013 included . I know its bad but I can't stop being a mopey idiot.
- Oh, and stop being a mopey idiot.
I also have a few new year's wishes- I wish that the two lovely people whom I care so dearly about to get what they deserve-happiness , and that things look up for them this year. They really don't deserve all that they have gone through in the past year or so. I also wish all my friends, family members, people whom I care about in general have a smooth-sailing year with no major hiccups. Because I feel that everyone really deserves to be happy, no matter what situation they're in or what struggles they face. I also wish for all my fellow friends who have O levels looming ahead of them have a successful/fruitful preperation, get their desired grades and dream college/polytechnic. Oh my goodness. O Levels. I am struggling to not bawl my eyes out right now.
And lastly. Happy New Year everyone!!
Love y'all so very much .
